‘A Beautiful Time’ On Display at CCTVenues London

Painting is one of my instincts, I have to do it, but then we have been creative artistically since our primitive beginnings in the way of cave paintings and now more than ever in our fast changing modern society, we should all be surrounded by beautiful and colourful artwork to enjoy aesthetically, if not to generate a positive emotional response.

I give an energy to each of my paintings, so I am positive when I paint and in a world which can sometimes leave me feeling overwhelmed by negativity from stories in the press to politics, I have to overcome this negativity by using my most beautiful memories to guide me into a painting which can then soak up my positive mood.

‘My art is my therapy’ it may be clichéd, but the world needs more positivity and collectively humanity can share abstract art regardless of location, race or religion.

Increasingly I find myself painting in an abstract style as this gives me far more scope to portray emotion and to capture the mood of a moment.  I take much satisfaction from the appreciative response to my abstract artwork.

My painting started as a hobby in childhood, I soon realised it was taking up most of my free time and I began to sell my artwork in my late teens, I have painted continuously since then.

I have a substantial portfolio of artwork, also because of working across this time span I have a range of paintings portraying my various emotional responses to experiences, sometimes paintings were created during difficult times, teenage angst, in the depths of despair, and these are not difficult to identify in my portfolio, for my husband, they are instantly recognisable!

Talking about our emotions we often refer to our moods as colours, I knew as a child to steer clear of my Grandmother when she was in one of her ‘black moods’ and as a teenager when I was feeling ‘Blue’ my paintings were finished with a darker colour pallet.

Now, I am sublimely contented and my colour choices have evolved over the years, pure bliss for me now is the deepest of reds.

The artwork currently on display at CCTvenues is a selection of paintings from my collection entitled ‘A Beautiful Time’ and are based upon emotional response to recent fun with my young family and the passage of time.

Inspired by springtime walks with the children in Cornwall, exhilarating fresh sea breezes, being chased up the beach by the waves and dusting down sandy hands and faces. Some of the work is textured with sand, I used blue colours echoing the delightful Cornish sea and pure fun!

Some of the collection was inspired by the other parts of my life whereas I enjoy time alone with my husband, the blissful luxury of ‘me time’, usually in the evening or late night, portrayed in these paintings by the rich colour ways.

When taking commissions I like to learn not only what my client wants their painting to look like, but also who they are and what they enjoy in life, hopes, dreams and their aspirations. Working in this way I can create a painting which truly embodies each individual’s pleasures.

I have decided that I am going to have two websites to correspond with my somewhat split personality, I tend to shape-shift between my conformist, fairy cake baking, tranquil abstract art painting, environmentally sound, tree hugging, vegetarian, politically correct, sweet mumsy self (whilst the children are present) and my anarchistic, nastily naughty, escapist, big black boot wearing, heavy metal loving, cash burning, gothic painting, psycho.

I will be keeping Mazoo as it is, for nice, respectable, people and I will be launching a new website to celebrate my darker side, www.kathryncrocker.com for all of you dark hearted, nasty, evil, soulless, lurkers to purchase from, sad, skint, losers need not apply.

So my job for the next couple of months will be to create a new collection of paintings, unlike Mazoo (on which all paintings are sold from my online portfolio and made to order at bargain prices), www.kathryncrocker.com will only showcase my up to date collections of one off dark art canvas paintings, I will be selling them at a far higher cost and will not be apologetic about it, they will be funding my quest for total world domination. Wwwwaaaa haaaa haaaa (evil laugh)

Two months and counting (needs to be finished before Halloween ;0),I will keep you updated……………………
