Abstract VS Sunset Paintings

Ξ August 13th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Abstract Art |

I’ve been busily painting in all of my spare holiday time, mainly working on my new dark and devious gothic collection of canvas paintings. The new collection is coming along fantastically well, I am longing to put some photos online for feedback, but I promised myself that I wouldn’t even show a peep until all of the paintings are complete and I can have a grand unveiling !

I’ve had some great Mazoo commissions for canvas paintings this week and it seems that my darker shaded works are very much in vogue, cool eh?

There also seems to have been a trend for sunset paintings outselling my abstract art work, which is unusual, so very interesting, perhaps it has something to do with the weather, a touch of sunshine after all of the terribly heavy rain we have had.

The colour pallets of the paintings which I have been commissioned for are not only darker but have also seen a shift away from the more understated neutral greys, chocolate browns and creams and instead towards more luxurious reds and purples.

Although there have been, of course, some wonderful crossovers in terms of colour in recent months from my ‘A Beautiful time’ collection, where fusions of lavish reds and cream, created fantastic contemporary canvas art, in a yin and yang approach.

Whilst I do enjoy the neutrals, I am now soooooo enjoying being engulfed in rich colour (quite literally im a messy madam when I paint) once again. These rich coloured paintings fit so very well into modern settings, often adding a splash of show stoppingly gorgeous colour and sit equally as well in more historical settings, creating a feeling of drama and an elegant, eclectic air.

I have had some re-decoration done in my place recently, so I am putting three of my personal paintings up for grabs in the specials category as sale items, they are in super condition and there is also the added bonus that they are ready for next day delivery.(after cleared funds) Check them out:

Hammy The Hamster

Ξ August 8th, 2007 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Fun And Games |

So I caved in and got the girlies a hamster, I was 17 last time I had one, took me a while to get over it (RIP Sioux),

It was the last one in the shop, rejected by all of the other kids, it’s supposed to be named Hammy, although it goes by many other names, first was the ‘ginger ninja’ as it’s a total nutter (its second name) and not like any other hamster I’ve known before, it sleeps upside down in its wheel, thinks it’s a bat, it snuggled up next to me on the sofa and went to sleep and it jumps, totally bizarre, but terribly cute!

Coming soon, hammy cam, LOL…..

Summer holiday blog

Ξ August 8th, 2007 | → 4 Comments | ∇ Fun And Games |

Been on some nice days out, Castle Drogo was cool, the Wolfshead Bowmen were encamped there re-creating a bit of medieval England , I love this period in history. The girlies had a go at archery which they all enjoyed and was highly amusing to watch, I didn’t have a go for safety’s sake, it’s not that im a bad shot, but I am terribly mischevious;0)

Unfortunately the castle was closed, bit gutted, I enjoy having a mooch about, taking in some history and checking out the artwork, but the gardens are very lovely there, well worth a trip. Took some great photos, but unfortunately the National Trust have gone rather shed happy (bottom right of the photo) so the front of the castle isn’t as impressive looking as it could have been, why they didn’t locate the education shed further along I do not know! The castle is said to be the last castle to be built in England and was completed in 1930 I think.

Also went to the Tintagel show, where the Battle of Camlann (Legendary King Arthurs last battle) was re-enacted, that was sooooo groovy, the atmosphere was great and lots of people had fab costumes, I want. The girlies loved the jester, he was very funny and seemed to be enjoying himself too, spied him in the beer tent, don’t blame him!
This chivalrous chap was kind enough to pose for us straight after coming off the battle field, poor bloke was very, very tired, not that you can tell, he did a great fierce pose!
I can never get enough of knights in shining armour, poor hubby LOL. Don’t think he needs to worry too much, check out the pic of me & my friend Tina with the knight, I can’t even sort out holding up the sword, big girls blouse! I didn’t get the name of the Knight, think he was part of the Northland Mercenaries? Just in case he ever reads this, thank you for the having your photo taken with us!
